What the prior notification is
Germany requires foreign employers posting workers in certain sectors to submit a prior notification before work starts, through the customs administration (Zoll) portal. The aim is to check compliance with the minimum wage and working conditions.
Which data is needed
- employer details and the person responsible in Germany;
- name, date of birth and working period for each worker;
- the workplace address and client details;
- where the documents required at inspection are kept.
Changes must be reported
If the workplace, period or list of workers changes, the notification must be updated. In practice, most problems come precisely from unreported changes.
In addition to the notification, workers should hold an A1 certificate, and in construction, SOKA-BAU registration may also be required.
How we help
We receive the data in a simple spreadsheet by e-mail, complete the notification in the portal and send you the confirmation. We track the periods and let you know when updates are needed.
