What SOKA-BAU is
SOKA-BAU is the social fund system of the German construction sector. Among other things, it manages the holiday procedure for construction workers. Foreign firms posting construction workers to Germany may be required to take part.
What participation involves
- registering the company before work starts;
- monthly reports with hours worked and pay for each worker;
- paying the contributions calculated from the reports.
Costly mistakes
- reports are sent late or not at all;
- declared hours do not match timesheets;
- the end of the posting is not reported.
Each of these situations can lead to reminders, official estimates and extra costs.
